Yoi Takiguchi is a first-year high school student with a tall frame, a deep voice, and a naturally masculine aura that has earned her the nickname "Prince" among her classmates. Despite being a girl, she is constantly admired — and occasionally pursued — by female students who see her as a cool, handsome figure.

What makes Yoi special is the gap between how others perceive her and who she truly is inside: an anxious, self-conscious teenager who has quietly given up on being seen as feminine. Everything changes when she meets Kohaku Ichimura, the only person who looks past her image and sees the real Yoi.

Everything You're Wondering About Yoi

Who is Yoi in the anime?
Yoi refers to Yoi Takiguchi, the female protagonist of In the Clear Moonlit Dusk (Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki). She is a tall, composed high school girl whose masculine appearance has earned her the nickname "Prince." The story follows her unexpected romance with Kohaku Ichimura, a boy who is the only one who sees her as she truly is.
Is Yoi a girl or a boy?
Yoi Takiguchi is a girl. Her tall stature, deep voice, and princely demeanor often lead classmates — and even first-time viewers — to mistake her for a boy. This gender-perception gap is a central theme of the series. The anime explores how Yoi navigates a world that constantly projects an identity onto her that doesn't fully match how she feels inside.
Where can I watch In the Clear Moonlit Dusk?

How many episodes does the anime have?
The anime is confirmed for 12 episodes in its first season. As of March 2026, 8 episodes have aired. New episodes release every Saturday on TBS in Japan and are available on Crunchyroll shortly after. The season finale is expected in late April 2026.
What happens in Episode 8 of In the Clear Moonlit Dusk?
Episode 8, titled "Earring" (aired March 1, 2026), is the first episode where Yoi and Kohaku are officially a couple. The episode features Yoi's first kiss (on the cheek), Kohaku's growing confidence in the relationship, and a group outing announcement for a Kobe trip. It also introduces a potential love triangle conflict with a character named Oji.
Is there a manga for In the Clear Moonlit Dusk?
Yes. The manga Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki by Mika Yamamori has been serialized since July 2020 and currently has 10 volumes in Japanese. English volumes 1 through 8 are published by Kodansha USA and are available in print and digitally. The manga is ongoing and is currently ahead of the anime.

What does "yoi" mean in Japanese?
In Japanese, yoi (良い / よい) is an adjective meaning "good," "nice," or "fine." It is also used in expressions like yoi tabi o (よい旅を), meaning "have a good trip" or "safe travels." In the context of the anime, "Yoi" (宵) is a different kanji meaning "evening" or "dusk" — which connects to the title Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki ("Beautiful Evening Moon").
Who voices Yoi Takiguchi in the English dub?
